Humanities, Arts & Medicine Database

Description Update: This database ceased as of 2016/17 but it is now hosted by the Canadian Association for Health Humanities as a downloadable Excel file. The Humanities, Arts & Medicine Database was begun in 2005 as a labour of love for an informal group of medical students and faculty at Memorial University of Newfoundland interested in what literature had to say about the art and science of healing. They discovered people at other universities had compiled whole databases of such, but that the CanCon - and especially works from Newfoundland and Labrador - was lacking. So, they set about to build on the good work others had begun by compiling a collection of exclusively Canadian works, with a particular emphasis on works from Canada’s eastern edge.
